Soft Landings takes off in international marketsMarch 2015

With BSRIA led Soft Landings becoming a widely recognised process in the UK, the concept is attracting interest in international markets, with two of BSRIA’s Senior Consultants being invited to present on the Soft Landings process in France and Australia.

BSRIA who is an endorsing partner of BIM World in Paris on the 25th and 26th March, will take to the platform to present how the Soft Landings process can help solve the performance gap between design intentions and operational outcomes.

“Firstly we are delighted to be associated with BIM World and we hope it will be a wonderful and thought provoking event, it is no surprise to us that Soft Landings is attracting interest outside of the UK.  The performance gap is a global concern and Soft Landings used properly can help identify this during the project and allow remedial action to be undertaken” said Jo Harris, BSRIA’s Manager in the Sustainable Construction Group.

Jo continued “Overseas interest in Soft Landings has differing levels of maturity; France is at the very start of their journey and recognise it is a complimentary process to BIM, whereas Australia is much further advanced as this is Roderic Bunn’s second visit to promote Soft Landings. We believe that the ever increasing awareness of the performance gap will lead to more interest in Soft Landings in other countries”

David Churcher will be presenting at BIM World on March 26th and Roderic Bunn will be presenting in a series of workshops including Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland in New Zealand during March.

Soft Landings provides a framework of activities for clients and their project teams to embed into their existing project management processes in order to avoid common pitfalls and deliver a better performing building.  It aims to create virtuous circles no matter whether the project is trying to achieve exemplary environmental standards or is a simple extension or retrofit of an existing building, the Soft Landings culture can be applied to ensure outcomes match the clients’ intentions.
