Google restarts plans for new London headquartersSeptember 2016

The race to build Google’s £1bn UK headquarters has restarted after three years with developer Argent apparently having discussions with a number of main contractors which includes BAM construction, Carillion and Kier all three of whom have longstanding framework agreements with Argent plus Mace and Sir Robert McAlpine. BAM had originally been appointed as main contractor on the scheme in 2013, but Google put the project on hold after they had called for the scheme to be re-designed.

Plans for the new London HQ have an estimated value of more than £600m, of which £400m is for the shell and core, currently Google’s staff are spread across offices in Covent Garden and Victoria, the new offices are intended to bring them together under one roof.
