As part of the build up to first Armed Forces Day on the 27th June, members of reserve and cadet forces have been donning their Army, Navy or RAF uniforms for 'uniform to work day'. The aim of the day is to raise the profile of the UK's armed forces in the public eye, and to help honour the sacrifice and commitment of those who are serving or have served Queen and country.

James Parker, Research Engineer at BSRIA, proudly wore his uniform to work as part of the event. James is an adult instructor with the Air Training Corps, a uniformed youth organisation supported by the Royal Air Force for 13 to 20 year olds with an interest in the RAF or aviation and adventure in general.

James said 'It is surprising how many people in the construction and engineering industry are involved in the reserve and cadet forces, plus many have served in the regulars previously. This day will help to lift the profile of these organisations and the good work that they do."

BSRIA is pleased to support its staff in these activities and has also had a member of staff undertake a tour of duty in Afghanistan as part of the Territorial Army.
