Introduction to mechanical building services

Who should attend | Aims | Content and timings | Outcomes | Documentation

Building services are a major component of many construction projects

They account for around 30% of the capital and 50% of the operating cost for a typical office, and substantially more in highly serviced buildings such as hospitals. They play a central role in creating a successful project and a successful building and are certainly the first thing noticed when not working well - e.g. flickering lights or cold draughts. As such it is useful for all involved in the construction process to have a broad appreciation of building services and the role they play

This training course focuses on mechanical building services systems, providing an overview of system types, requirements, performance and use together with an appreciation of major installation, co-ordination, commissioning and handover issues.
