Ska - the tool for sustainable refurbishment

Ska, a tool aimed at improving the environmental impacts related to fit-out, was officially launched in November 2009 after it was identified that there needed to be an assessment method to evaluate the fit-out projects in the UK. In this webinar Sarah Birchall, a SKA assessor at BSRIA, will explain what SKA is, how it works, the sustainability issues it covers and how it is different to other environmental assessment methodologies such as BREEAM.

The lecturer - Sarah Birchall
Sarah joined BSRIA as a Graduate Engineer in the Sustainable Buildings Group in January 2011. Her principle areas of activity at BSRIA are building performance evaluation, occupant satisfaction surveys, thermal imaging, benchmarking and environmental assessments. Since joining the team Sarah has been involved in energy and environmental data analysis.

Sarah is also a Technology Manager for the Carbon Trust's Enhanced Capital Allowance (ECA) Research Programme. She has a PhD from the University of Leeds
