This is an introductory course that will guide you through appropriate elements of plant and systems and the resources that are available to you and draw on BSRIA's experiences of best practice.

Who should attend?
- Anyone who has facilities or premises management responsibility but who has no formal operation and maintenance training
- Facilities Managers with "soft services" background, wishing to enhance their "hard services" knowledge
- Office managers

- To introduce industry best practice strategies, processes, techniques and points of reference for the operation and maintenance of building services
- To focus on the "hard services" elements and their interface with facilities management, including mechanical, electrical and public health services in buildings

- Maintenance Strategy - planned, reactive, risk-based and condition-based
- Legislation and Compliance - statutory inspections, frequencies and competencies
- Information management: Building Manuals, O&M Manuals
- Sustainability, including energy efficient plant replacement
- Information resources
Registration starts at 0900. The course starts at 0930 and finishes at 1630. Lunch and refreshments are provided.
OutcomesDelegates will gain an understanding of what it takes to successfully maintain building services, and will know where to look for more detailed information in particular areas.

LecturersRalph Bell spent 26 years in the Royal Navy and was responsible for the operation and maintenance of the various plant and systems found on a warship. Since leaving the navy he has been employed by a number of companies as both a facilities and a building services manager, most recently at Heathrow as part of the T5 construction project. Jo Harris is the head of BSRIA's Sustainable Building Group. She has a background in building services maintenance and FM including factories, data centres and commercial offices.
