NEW at BSRIA - test facility for sand trap louvres

BSRIA offers manufacturers worldwide the only independent facility for testing performance of sand trap louvres to the European standard EN 13181.

This new facility complements our current testing of weather louvres which enable us to test the poducts for:

• Sand rejection to EN 13181 - NEW
• Rain penetration to EN 13030

The tests are based on the methods that simulates more realistically the actual operating conditions that a louver will undergo when installed.

The rejection performance can be established over a wide range of conditions using simulated wind speed, water supply rate, sand and core ventilation rates.

Sand trap louvres testing to EN 13181 - NEW

Sand trap louvres are used in desert-like conditions and as they are designed for removal of sand while allowing air flow into a building, testing their real performance before installation is critical. BSRIA offers:

• Pre-test of sand distribution
• Sand rejection effectiveness
• Air entry loss coefficient / pressure loss
• Fine and coarse sand or any type depending on a project specification 

Rain test for storm louvers to EN 13030:

• Water penetration test
• Air discharge and entry loss coefficient / pressure loss

The rain test was originally developed by BSRIA and HEVAC, and has been adopted as the European standard.
