Acoustic capabilities and testing at BSRIA

BSRIA operates a specialist thermal acoustic test facility for testing a range of HVAC products. Our large reverberation chamber is suitable for carrying out: 

• Standard acoustic product testing to EN 12102:2008, ISO 3741 and ISO 3743  
• Bespoke acoustic testing  tailored to individual projects 
• Development testing to improve products  

For HVAC products and domestic appliances

• Sound power and sound pressure levels
• Vibration levels
• Precision measurements
• Simultaneously testing acoustic and thermal performance
• Control temperature and humidity in the testing facility
• Replicate a range of typical real-life operational situations

Products we test

Acoustic testing is a requirement of the EN 14511 and some incentive/quality schemes that call upon EN 12102:2008 for sound power measurements for heat pumps, air conditioners, fan coils, liquid chilling packages, dehumidifiers, and other space heating/cooling products.
