EHPA Quality Label for heat pumps up to 100kW - now available for the UK market.

The EHPA Quality Label provides a common set of requirements to ensure product and service quality for heat pumps in participating countries. The Quality Label scheme is managed by the European Heat Pump Association (www.ehpa.org) and operated by certification bodies in each local country.
Manufacturers seeking the EHPA UK Quality Label should send applications to BSRIA Cert. Manufacturers whose products already carry the label in other countries may also apply for registration in the UK.
The EHPA Quality Label scheme:
- provides buying security and improved long term benefits to the customer
- provides strong arguments for all parties seeking governmental support - institutional as well as financial
- supports the current image of heat pumps as energy efficient, reliable, high quality products
- contributes to establish heat pumps as innovative technology to "produce" renewable and environmentally friendly ambient heat
- helps to protect existing heat pump markets against low-quality, low price competition.
To be granted the label for the UK market, manufacturers must demonstrate the following for each product (or range of products) :
- appropriate product testing has been carried out by an EHPA registered test centre
- self-declaration of conformance with relevant EU standards
- existence of a functioning customer service network in the UK
- provision of a minimum two-year warrantee on the heat pump
- availability of spare parts in the UK at least ten years hence
- various technical documentation.
