Since its introduction, it has been a requirement for all public sector housing to be built to at least Code level 3. From 1st May 2008, all developments where a local authority has received a building notice, initial notice or full plans application after this date, will require a Code rating.
Privately funded projects started after this date can use the "Nil rated" certificate if no assessment is carried out. The certificate (either Code assessed or nil rated) must be included in the Home Information Pack when selling the dwelling.
BSRIA is also a BREEAM (BRE Environmental Assessment Method) assessor for offices, retail and education, which makes us well placed to offer recognised environmental assessments for dwellings, non-dwellings and mixed developments.
