Improvements to the BSRIA Infonet

December 2010

BSRIA Infonet is an on-line information service exclusive to BSRIA Members.  To access the site you will need a username and password; if you do not have this, it is contained in your monthly member e-newsletter, or available from your company's BSRIA Member representative or from membership@bsria.co.uk.

Changes to the Infonet will help BSRIA Members' find the information they want quickly.We're continually improving the Infonet, to help BSRIA members make the most of their dedicated online resource.  A few recent changes you might like to try the next time you log in:

Quick Search

Members can now easily search across both the BSRIA library and bookshop from a new search box.  A quick search by typing a few words in the box and 'go', and you will be provided with one comprehensive list of results with most items available as bookshop downloads or discounts, or library loans and photocopies.  Search tip: if you're searching with commonly used words, try limiting your search (so you get fewer, but more relevant results) by using quotation marks around the words to make a "phrase search".  For example a search for water commissioning (200 results) becomes "water commissioning" (3 results).

Advanced search

Click on the new advanced link on the search box. An advanced search comes in useful if you need to do a more specific search on any subject - use the boxes provided to select the publication date, publication type (such as 'journals' or 'standards'), and any other word filters (such as words in the title of a publication only).  Finally, you can specify how you would like your results listed - such as by the date published, or by author.

Library collections

New library pages provide introductions to some of our key collections, including: an A-Z listing of all of our journal titles with links to any articles we've selected a simple subject-based directory of some of our standards (we hold an extensive collection of British, European, American, and International Standards, or our latest acquisitions (you can also join our bi-monthly e-newsletter information@bsria.co.uk to keep up to date).

Forthcoming resources

We're creating our first topic guides on areas including Airtightness, Building Information Modelling, and Embodied Carbon which will provide brief introductions and resource listings for more technical or unfamiliar subjects. The first guides will be available on the Infonet shortly.
