BSRIA's new certification body launched

October 2011

This week BSRIA launched its new certification body, BSRIA Cert.

This new company will provide dedicated certification services within building services and construction. BSRIA Cert will extend BSRIA's capability to address problems within the industry with a primary focus on product assurance.

BSRIA Cert provides certification schemes which combine product testing (already a core BSRIA service), factory production control and expert guidance to help designers and specifiers understand the key performance criteria for product selection. Schemes and guidance are developed in collaboration with industry to ensure they are appropriate to both suppliers and specifiers of the particular product.

Chris Marney, BSRIA Cert's Certification Manager, introduced the new certification body at BSRIA's Annual General Meeting on October 13th. He said "BSRIA Cert's mission is to lower the buying risk for specifiers to enable confident, value-based product selection. This is also good news for suppliers, who can operate on a level playing field and see innovative product designs adopted more quickly."

BSRIA Cert's first schemes will be for weather louvres and pressure independent control valves (PICVs) with further schemes under development. Further information can be found at the BSRIA Cert web pages.
